I decided to let Elizabeth write her own birth story intro, because I just didn’t feel that I had the right words to convey her family’s private story and didn’t want to make an assumption about what I could or couldn’t share. I’m so grateful that she has written this and is allowing me to share her birth photos. This family is simply amazing. Thanks so much Elizabeth for trusting in me to take these precious photos…
“I have had the privilege of working with Carolyn for over three years, and various life stages. Carolyn photographed our family at our home in Texas when my eldest, Evan, was just about to turn one and she later captured photos when my family traveled to Seattle when I was pregnant with boy/girl twins.
Tragedy struck the day of the twin’s birthday as my son Benjamin died during delivery. We were thankful that Adelaide was born healthy. However, understandably, the months following were a difficult and stormy time for all of us.
In late Spring of this year, without the previously-needed help of fertility treatments, I found out I was expecting baby #4. And then the next week, my husband’s company notified him they were moving us to Seattle. What a whirlwind – but I was thankful that this opportunity provided us a fresh start. I asked Carolyn first if she would photograph our maternity shots when the time came closer, and then asked if she could be there during delivery. I cherish all the photos I had from each birth day, and knew that hiring someone so compassionate and who knew our story would not only provide us great images, but also allow my husband to be present in the moment with me – something critically important knowing how nervous we would invariably be on that day.
As expected, Carolyn was wonderful to have with us on that day and did a wonderful job capturing the emotions that flooded through us; anxiety, anticipation and then relief. There was so much love to be captured that day, and I couldn’t be happier that we had such a talented friend and photographer to capture every moment.”
