It was an amazing coincidence that I happened to be traveling to France for Annika & Julien‘s wedding the same week Judy & Aaron were flying to Paris to elope. They live in Houston and had contacted me about photographing Judy’s bridal shower, so naturally I inquired about their wedding day, and that’s when we realized we’d both be in Paris the same week (sounds so romantic, right?!)
I woke up the morning of July 9th nervous because it was raining. My weather ap said it would continue all day. 100% chance of rain it said, and damn was it was right.
Luckily, Judy & Aaron were serious troopers, they didn’t complain about the cold or the rain (particularly Judy in a sleeveless gown. Brr!!) In fact, all of us had a pretty awesome day! I dragged my husband Mike along to help me out/be the umbrella guy/carry my giant red purse. (Did I mention that he’s a sweetheart?)
Then the four of us trudged through Paris’s sights taking photos along the way… Judy & Aaron held their ceremony in a gazebo at Bois de Boulogne park so that’s where we started, then we shot in front of the Eiffel Tower, in front of the Louvre, at the galleries Vivienne, we stopped for dinner at a classic Parisian cafe, and then finished at the “love bridge” Pont des Arts.
I can’t quite express how amazing this day was. Not just for Judy & Aaron, though it was definitely their day, it was also amazing for me. Seeing Judy & Aaron together reminded me what getting married is all about. It’s about the relationship, the lifelong partnership. Your forever best friend. Your team mate. Committing to one person for life.
Congrats you two. Thank you so much for entrusting me to shoot your wedding day.
(PS: Can I be Judy for a day? Could she be any prettier!?)
