Micki and her family just moved here from Southern California, so this was their first time seeing the famous Texas bluebonnet fields and wow-wee, did this field not disappoint! Micki is having a baby boy, which is why she really wanted to incorporate the beautiful blue flowers into her session, so we made a plan to head to the Brenham area one evening and hope for the best (this was also my first time up there, so I didn’t know what to expect!). Luckily, we stumbled upon this picture perfect field while driving through the country roads in Chappell Hill, TX. We parked alongside of the road, unloaded all of our props and enjoyed the peace and serenity of the countryside till the sun had set and there was barely a sliver of light left for me to shoot in.
It was quite an adventure for all of us city folk, more accustomed to loud noises, traffic and crowded streets. This was like out of a movie or postcard… a far cry from the Houston or Los Angeles pace of life. It was tranquil. Serene. The perfect setting for a relaxed maternity session.
The only downside to shooting in a field and not knowing anything about country life? Is that I don’t know anything about country life, lol. So, I was a bit concerned about snakes in the flowers and getting bit by bugs. We also had to dodge a few cow patties… speaking of cows, they kept edging closer and closer to us, so we kept moving further and further away. Luckily we all left unscathed; we didn’t see any snakes, we didn’t get any bug bites, and as far as I can remember we didn’t step on any cow patties. I call that a success! 🙂
Thanks Micki for hiring me to be your maternity photographer. I hope you enjoy Houston and I hope you have an easy/complication free pregnancy and delivery! Congrats!
